"Geometric Transformations" - An origami exhibit at the constante
gallery at
Ramat Gan.
The origami exhibition "Geometric Transformation" of the British
origami
artist David Brill will open on Saturday, March 12th, at the Constante
house
gallery in Ramat Gan.
The exhibition presents 15 3D geometric works of sizes 20-30 cm. One of
these is a unique creation made-up from 400 pieces of folded paper,
assembled without glue. David Brill creates Geometric transformations
in the
paper. His works combine the Eastern and Western origami.
David Brill was born in England in 1948, and is a leading origami
artist.
His works are shown in museums and galleries around the world.
The works shown in this exhibition show deep understanding of the art
of
paper folding, and are a unique combination of art and paper
engineering.
His works are both artistic and scientific, and attract followers from
both
communities.
At the opening evening of the exhibition we will host an international
conference between the gallery and the Mingei museum in San Diego, USA,
where one of the largest origami exhibitions in the world is hosted.
The
conference will be directed by Paul Jackson, and will include David
Brill
and other artists.
The conference is hosted by the internet website "Tapuz", and will be
broadcast live over the internet.
To quote David Brill: "Even after decades of folding paper, I am still
intrigued by the endless possibilities available to the origami artist.
I
gain immense pleasure from seeing and discovering new interpretations
of
over-familiar subjects and techniques. Unexpected movements in the
paper
during the folding intrigue me, and I am attracted by the warmth and
tactile
quality of this material. Respect for this fragile medium is the key to
sensitive finished results."
